JEE ADVANCED 2014 SOLUTIONS , ANALYSIS & RANK PREDICTOR

The solutions of Paper 1 are now available on my institute website www.triumphacademy.com.
Now solutions of Paper 2 are also available.

ANALYSIS OF JEE ADVANCED 2014

Well overall compared to last year the paper seems to be tougher for students. I expect cutoff and ranks marks equations to come down from last year. Since 50% questions of Paper-1 were More than one option correct, the no negative marking factor won't help student's cause. The paper-2 had lengthy calculations.
Chemistry is easiest to score in paper-2 but not so in paper-1.Maths was as always the pick of the subjects.

 ANALYSIS OF PHYSICS PAPER
Paper-1:  It had all regular sort of questions but yes many questions were originally framed. Integers were comparatively more scoring than the more than one option.
Paper-2: The first section of single correct questions was easy to score but involved lengthy calculations.
The one out of two part of all three comprehension questions were tricky and not easy to score. The matching types were very well designed concept testing questions.

Reaction of Topper Students
“Paper-I was tough. Chemistry was difficult. Paper 2 was comparatively easier. The weightage given to physical chemistry was comparatively lesser this year,” said V Pramod who had scored 355 out of 360 in the all-India JEE Main.

Finally I feel the cutoff(called for counselling not merit list as that is already declared by IITs) to come down by at least 10 marks to around 140-145 zone this year.

JEE ADVANCED 2014 RANK PREDICTOR

All the best for JEE ADVANCED.
Check this space for solutions.
Expect solutions of PAPER-1 by 5 pm and PAPER-2 by 7 pm.
Rank predictor by late night.

Well for analysis visit this post http://yourssid.blogspot.in/2014/05/jee-advanced-2014-solutions-analysis.html

Before releasing my own Rank Predictor for JEE 2014 I am sharing the actual data for last year.

Marks              -                   Rank
332                                            1
245                                         400
224                                         874
209                                       1488
195                                        2335
183                                        3374
175                                        4252
160                                        6696
149                                         8916

The prediction from FIIT JEE for JEE ADVANCED 2014 are given below
Marks                                      Rank
160                                         8626
180                                        5228
200                                        2700           (Resonance says 2001-2500)
220                                       1324
240                                        375              (Resonance says 501-1000)
260                                        134
280                                        55                (Resonance says 101-200)
300                                        14

I Agree for predictions on marks 240 and above by FIITJEE but for lower than that its looks unrealistic I expect much better ranks for 200 odd score than that.
Also by comparing to actual data of last year you yourself can judge how scientific these rank predictors from such famed institutes are.

I'll advice not to waste time searching for Predictors as in the case of exit polls in our country all such are pure guesses without any rationality.

Now as per my information one of the student has claimed to be getting 327 from an institute from Kota. Same institute claims four students getting 300 plus marks.

JEE cutoff for IIT entrance: 32%

Nearly 1.54 lakh aspiring engineers who scored 32 per cent in this year’s Joint Entrance Examination (Main) were today declared eligible for the entrance exam to the Indian Institutes of Technology.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) brought out the merit list for the JEE Main. Those who scored 115 out of the full marks of 360 have made it to the list of candidates eligible to take the JEE Advanced on May 25.
Clearing that test will pave the way for admission to the 16 IITs and the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
CBSE chairperson Vineet Joshi said the results were announced after examining candidate feedback on the questions and answer keys.
The board had put out the answer keys on Monday. Hundreds of students have complained alleging mistakes in the questions or answer keys.
“All the questions and answers have been verified. We will again put the final answer keys on our website,” Joshi said.
The CBSE will bring out another merit list by combining the JEE Main and the board results of the candidates. Those who find a place on that list will be eligible for admission to the National Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology.
The IITs do not admit candidates on the basis of the JEE Main alone. They consider the JEE Main as the first filter to identify candidates for the JEE Advanced.
The candidates selected through the JEE Main have to register next week for the May 25 JEE Advanced. The results will be declared on June 19.
The Union human resource development ministry plans to ask the IITs to drop the JEE Advanced from 2015 and admit students through the JEE Main alone. But IIT teachers may oppose any such move.
Nearly 13 lakh candidates took the JEE Main last month. The paper had 90 questions carrying a total of 360 marks. For each wrong answer, a candidate gets one negative mark.
The CBSE released the answer keys on April 28 and asked candidates to submit their feedback within a day. Only candidates can challenge the answers, that too for a fee of Rs 1,000. The high fee has annoyed many students.
Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha will admit students to their engineering colleges, both private and government-run, on the basis of the JEE Main results. Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand adopted the JEE Main last year. Bengal is likely to adopt it from 2015-16.
This means there will be no state-level JEE in these states. Candidates seeking admission to the 285 engineering colleges in Madhya Pradesh, 729 in Maharashtra, 199 in Odisha and about 300 colleges in Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand would take the JEE Main. The CBSE will publish a national merit list and state-specific merit lists.
Till recently, states conducted their own JEEs for admission to government and private engineering colleges. But the Centre wants all the states to adopt the JEE Main.
