How to Fill JEE MAIN 2017 Form: Step by Step Guide

Dear Readers,
To help you fill the JEE MAIN form correctly I am writing this step by step guide so that you don't feel any problem.
First of all read these instructions given on JEE MAIN website carefully, you must keep with you your 10 class marksheet/certificate, Aadhaar card and scanned images of your photograph with date of photograph and your name printed on it and your signature.

Step1: Log on to the website www.jeemain.nic.in. (I will advice to use Chrome)

Step 2: On the home page just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Apply For JEE MAIN -2017 Link

Step 3:A pop up regarding Aadhaar will open up close that 

Step 4:On the Root Login Page now you will see New Candidate Registration written on left. Click on Apply For JEE MAIN 2017 LINK below that.

Step 5:Again Aadhaar Notification Notice will pop up and you will have to close it again.

Step 6:On the Registration page scroll down to bottom check the box saying I have read the information.... and click on Proceed to Apply Online

Step 7: Now first an Authentication Form will open up asking you for your Nationality(A drop down menu is given where you have to select ) , State of Eligibility(from where you have passed your XII examination) and when you fill this another field open up asking for state from where you have appeared for class XII examination. Then you have to select Identification Type which has three drop down fields to choose from: AADHAAR Number, AADHAAR Enrollment Number, Number obtained from CBSE office.

Fill all these details as can see from the attached pictures and also you have to give your consent for using your AADHAAR details from UIDAI and finally click on SUBMIT.

Step 8: Then the Application Form comes up in which first you have to provide Exam Related Details, First you have to select the papers you are applying for PAPER-1 only(for B.E./ B.Tech) or Paper II only(for Architecture) or for both. Then Mode of Examination : Pen and Paper Based or ONLINE mode and then you will have to select CHoice of Examination Centres.

Step 9 : Then you will be asked about your Personal Details as shown in the pic below

Step 10: Then you will have to fill the academic details as shown below

Step 11: Then you have to fill your Mailing details

Step 12: Then you have to provide details of your Guardians education and Income and then select a password and then fill the security key displayed and click on NEXT

Step 12: Then you will asked to be review your Application details and if correct click on Submit

This completes the first Part of you APPLICATION and now you will be displayed your Application Number

Step: 13 UPLOADING OF SIGN AND PHOTOGRAPH

• The scanned images of photograph and Signature should be in jpg/jpeg format only.
• Size of the photo image must be greater than 4 kb and less than 40 kb.
• Size of the signature image must be greater than 1 kb and less than 30 kb.
• Dimension of photograph image should be 3.5 cm(width) x 4.5 cm(Height) only.
• Dimension of signature image should be 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only.

NOTE : The Candidate will be able to modify/correct the particulars before the payment of fees. Once the payment of fee has been made / e-Challan downloaded, candidate particulars cannot be edited.

Step 14: Pay Examination Fee by debit/credit card or e-Challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank  : 

• Payment by Debit/Credit Card: The candidate has to select Debit/Credit Card option to pay the application fee and follow the online instruction to complete the payment of fee. After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the acknowledgment Page. In case the acknowledgment page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled and amount will be refunded to the candidate account with in a week and however the candidate has to make another transaction till the Acknowledgment Page is not generated



• Payment by Bank e-challan: The candidate has to select bank (Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC) to deposit the application fee through e-Challan mode. As soon as he/she selects, an e-Challan will be generated containing specific details of the candidate along with amount to be paid. The candidate has to take a printout of the same and take it to the nearest branch of the selected bank for making payment. After the confirmation of fee deposited from Bank/CBSE, the candidate will be able to print the Acknowledgment Page. In case the Acknowledgment Page is not generated, the candidate should contact the concerned bank/branch to update his/her transaction.

JEE MAIN APLLICATION: ALL INFO ABOUT AADHAAR REQUIREMENT

In reference to admission notice for JEE(Main) 2017 published in the news papers on 22/11/2016 regarding provision of Aadhaar at the time of filling online application for JEE (Main) 2017, following is being clarified ;

 1. The use of Aadhaar for the applicants of JEE (Main) 2017 will result in accuracy of the applicants’ details. This will also help in ascertaining identities of the applicants at the examination centres in a convenient and hassle free manner. Aadhaar obviates the need for producing multiple documents to prove one’s identity.

 2. The provisions of the Aadhaar Act and Regulations under the Act have come into effect from 14th September, 2016 and notifications to this effect have been published in the Official Gazette. Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act 2016 permits the use of Aadhaar number for establishing the identity of an individual for any purpose pursuant to any law or any contract to this effect. 

3. Accordingly, CBSE has decided to use Aadhaar for the applicants of JEE (Main) 2017, and hereby notifies the following:
 3.1 Applicants who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender in online application for JEE (Main) 2017 for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof. 
3.2 Applicants not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, are hereby required to make application for Aadhaar enrolment in case he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per section 3 of Aadhaar Act. Such applicant may visit any Aadhaar enrolment center (list available at www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled for Aadhaar.
 3.3 In order to facilitiate such applicants who are not having Aadhaar, the CBSE has specially set up facilitation centres in each city of examination for the purpose of Aadhaar enrolment. The applicants can approach such facilitation centres who will not charge any amount from any applicant for Aadhaar enrolment. The list of the facilitation centre is available on www.jeemain.nic.in. These applicants who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received Aadhaar should enter 28 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip at the time of filling online application form for JEE(Main) 2017.
 3.4 In case Aadhaar enrolment facility is not available at the facilitation centres, the applicants should submit a request for Aadhaar enrolment. The facilitation centre will issue a registration number to such applicants. This registration number should be entered by the applicants at the time of filling online application form for JEE(Main) 2017. 

4. A Circular to all CBSE affiliated schools is being issued for the awareness of applicants regarding the requirement of Aadhaar to apply for JEE (Main) 2017.

5. The above provisions shall be applicable in all states except J&K, Assam & Meghalaya.

6. The applicants who have passed or appearing in Class XII examination from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number provided they should select the city of examination in these states only.

Pre-placement offers to students at the Indian Institutes of Technology have scaled a record high this year, indicating a bumper recruitment season ahead amid growing inclination among leading employers to hire through the tried-and-tested internship route. 

The number of offers at some IITs has already shot up about a third than that a year ago, officials said, even as companies have more than two weeks left to snap up talent through PPOs from the premier engineering institutes. 

IIT-BHU in Varanasi has already registered more than 32% jump in the number of PPOs to 94 from 71in the whole of last year. At IIT Roorkee, the number of PPOs has seen a 27% increase to 108 so far, from 85 a year ago. 

Placement officers and students at other IITs including those in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kharagpur and Guwahati said the institutes are seeing an increase in PPOs, with most of them recording the highest number of offers ever this year. 

IIT Kharagpur has so far received 170 PPOs, close to what it received in the entire last year. The institute is confident of crossing at least 200 this year, officials said. IIT Madras is also within touching distance of last year's final tally of 69, having received 63 PPOs already. 

PROPOSAL OF SINGLE ENTRANCE TEST FOR ENGINEERING COLLEGE

The government is considering a proposal to have all the deemed universities and engineering colleges admit their students through the Joint Entrance Examination Main and common counselling.

Such single-window admission, the human resource development ministry believes, will help ensure standards across colleges and curb the racket of capitation fee-driven teaching shops.

Admission to medical and dental courses is already governed by a common exam. The Supreme Court recently ruled that all medical and dental colleges and deemed universities must admit students through the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, allowing certain exemptions only for this year.

"We are looking at a proposal to have all the engineering institutions admit students through the JEE Main," a senior ministry official said.

Sources said the University Grants Commission, the higher education regulator, might be asked to pass such a regulation.

The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the JEE Main, which now regulates admission to the National Institutes of Technology, the Indian Institutes of Information Technology and state-level engineering colleges in places such as Haryana and Gujarat.

The JEE Main also functions as a screening test for the JEE Advanced, which governs admissions to the Indian Institutes of Technology.

Currently, JEE Main-based admission to national-level institutes is done through a national-level process of common counselling. If and when all the institutions start admitting students through the JEE Main, separate state-level common counselling processes will have to be held.

Sources said that if a state does not want to conduct common counselling for its engineering colleges, these institutions might be allowed their individual counselling processes - but they must be a transparent online exercise.

Common counselling is key to checking the illegal practice, adopted by some institutions, of allowing candidates to leapfrog rivals higher on the merit list by paying hefty capitation fees. In case of common counselling, done online, institutes cannot breach the merit list.

More than 100 entrance tests are now held - at the state and institution levels - for admission to the country's 4,000 engineering colleges, forcing candidates to travel to multiple centres. A single entrance test and common counselling will bring relief to lakhs of aspiring engineers.

Most of India's 123 deemed universities now admit students through their own entrance tests and counselling processes. There are instances of candidates getting impersonators to take the test on their behalf to secure higher scores.

In 2012, the human resource development ministry had unsuccessfully tried to persuade all engineering colleges to admit students through the JEE Main. This time it's thinking of making the directive mandatory.
