Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), set to conduct the JEE Mains 2014 examination, has announced that Class 12 candidates appearing for Board examinations and JEE Mains 2014 computer based exams with clashing dates can be allotted alternative JEE Mains exam dates. Last date for application is March 25, 2014. The option released initially by CBSE in January 2014, with last date of application January 17, 2014 has been brought back upon receiving multiple requests from Class 12 students.
Class 12 candidates with clashing Board exam dates and JEE Mains 2014 computer based exam dates are required to send a copy of their Class 12 admit card with their JEE Main 2014 application number by email to the given JEE Mains email id by March 25, 2014. The application for a new computer based exam date for JEE Mains 2014 should be sent only by email; applications/admit card copies sent by post will not be considered.

The JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Mains is used for admission to undergraduate Engineering and Architecture courses. The top 1.5 lakh students will be eligible to attempt the JEE Advanced exam, used for admission to the IITs. Two papers are available under JEE Mains: Paper I for B Tech and Paper II for B Arch. While Paper I is available in online and offline formats, Paper II is available only in pen and paper mode.
Although JEE Mains offers both online and offline based examinations the offline exam format has been more popular. From the total 13.56 lakh candidates having registered for the JEE Mains 2014 exam, only 1.71 lakh candidates have registered for the computer based exam format.
