JEE MAIN: CORRECTION IN APPLICATION FORM PARTICULARS CAN BE DONE FROM 21 JANUARY TO 31 JANUARY

It is brought to the notice of all the aspirant and registered candidates of JEE (Main)- 2016 that the facility for correction in their data (particulars) will be operational on the website www.jeemain.nic.in from 21.01.2016 to 31.01.2016. All the registered candidates for the said examination are advised to visit the website and verify their particulars. They are further advised to make correction in their particulars, if any, on the particulars available in their registration form. The change of city for examination and change of mode from computer based to pen & paper based is not allowed. The candidates are advised to make the corrections, if any, latest by 31.01.2016. Thereafter, no correction in particulars, whatsoever, will be entertained by the JEE Unit under any circumstances. The additional amount (if applicable) should be paid by the candidates through credit/debit card or e-challan in the Canara/ICICI/HDFC/Syndicate Bank during 21.01.2016 to 31.01.2016. Since, it is one time facility, extended to the candidates to avoid any hardship to them; therefore, the candidates are informed to do the correction very carefully because no further chance of correction will be given to the candidates for whatsoever reason.  

JEE MAIN: IMPORTANT FAQ'S

Q.1- If a candidate has passed in 2014 and has appeared for improvement in 2015, what he will fill in the academic details section.
Such candidates have to decide as to which percentage of marks i.e. 2014 or 2015 is better and accordingly, they have to select the year and corresponding roll number in the first step of application form of JEE (Main) – 2016.
Further, the candidates who have passed class 12th in 2015 and appearing in improvement examination of class 12th in 2016, may fill the form in either of the following methods:-
a) Select the year of passing class 12th as 2015 and enter the roll number, name of the board in the first step of the application form. In the second step of application form select ‘yes’ in the column – appearing for improvement examination.

or

 b) Select the year of appearing class 12th as 2016 and fill the remaining form correctly. After declaration of result of improvement examination, there will be option on the website to provide the correct roll number of class 12 in which candidate’s result is better

Q.2- Which thumb impression should be used while filling JEE-Main 2016 form? What if a candidate has no thumb?
As per Page No 16 of Information Bulletin, the scanned image of left hand thumb impression (right hand thumb in case the candidate do not have left hand thumb or any finger if both thumbs are not there) is to be uploaded during online submission of application form of JEE (Main) - 2016. However, if a candidate has uploaded right hand thumb impression (by mistake), he/she need not to worry because the form will not be cancelled because of this mistake and he/she will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE (Main) – 2016 as usual.

Q3 – In case photograph is not having name and date, would the form be rejected?
 Name of the candidate and date on which the photograph is taken is to be mentioned on the photograph, but in case uploaded photograph does not have name and date, the form will not be rejected and no correction is required in such a case and he/she will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE (Main) – 2016 as usual.

 Q.4- How will an NRI or a foreign student enter his/her mobile number? 
Such candidates should enter the mobile number of his/her relative residing in India.

Q5. Will a candidate have a choice to change the mode of examination? 
Yes, but a candidate can change mode of examination from pen & paper examination to computer based examination and vice-versa.

 Q.6- What mistakes can be corrected during month of January 2016 when the corrections will be allowed by the Board? 
The correction in particulars can be done only if the candidates have paid the fee and completed all the steps of online application form of JEE (Main) – 2016. The candidates can modify all the particulars (including images of photo, thumb impression and signature) of his/her application form during the facility of correction in the 2nd fort night of January, 2016. The balance fee, if any due to correction in particulars, will have to be paid by the candidates during that period.

Q7- While paying the fee, what a candidate can do in case of failed transaction? 
If the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not communicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed. In this case, the candidates are required to pay the fees again either through online transaction or by e- challan and to download the acknowledgement page. Your amount of failed transaction of credit/debit card will be refunded back within 7 to 10 days. In case, fee payment is made through e-challan and the fee is not updated on the website, the candidate has to contact the concerned bank/branch for updation of fee. However, such candidates may also send the copy of paid e-challan through e-mail on jeemain@nic.in.

Q8. In case a student fails to book his session for online examination after paying the fees, how will he know about the date and session of the examination?
If a candidate does not make any selection, he/she shall be randomly assigned a slot/date as per the availability of the same as per page no.11 of information bulletin. Details of session and slot will be given on the admit card which can be downloaded from 2nd Week of March 2016.

 Q.9. There is no provision for students wishing to appear for both the exams at different centers i.e Paper -1 be Computer based and Paper -2 being Pen and Paper based
Since Paper-2 is only in offline mode, a student who is appearing for both the papers , paper 1 being online mode and paper 2 being offline mode will only get such centers that have facility for both the modes of examination. For example: Test centers for this could be PATNA: PEN & PAPER BASED and COMPUTER BASED. Kindly refer to appendix 2 of information bulletin. Two different roll no and separate admit cards cannot be issued to a candidate to appear at different centres for paper 1 and 2 separately

Q10- Whether the Hindi Medium paper will come in both the languages? 
 Yes, Hindi medium paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi medium

JEE MAIN 2016: Guidelines for filling up the form

Every year I get so many queries related to filing of the JEE MAIN form. To make sure you don't commit any mistake I am suggesting the guidelines for filling it.

1. Application form will be available from December 1, 2015 to 31 December 2015. 

2. Select which paper you want to appear in.
    Paper-1 : For admission in B.Tech/B.E courses.
    Paper-2: For admission in B.Arch courses.
    You can fill both also.

3. Decide on mode of examination.
    Paper -1 can be given online or offline as per your wish while Paper -2 is available only in offline       mode.
    For Class XII Students, I will personally suggest online mode as it will give you almost a             week  more to gear up for JEE MAIN after your XII Boards.

4. Keep your Class X mark sheet by your side so that no discrepancy arises in names and year                 of appearance.

5. Keep your scanned copies of your photograph, signature and thumb impression ready to be                 uploaded for step -2 of filling the form.
    
  PHOTOGRAPH
   

•   Candidates need to upload recent passport size photograph. (Color or B/W)
•   Photograph must be in JPG/JPEG Format.
•   The size of the photo image must be greater than 4KB and less than 40KB .
•   The dimension of the photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height) 
•   The photograph should be WITHOUT cap or goggles. However, spectacles are ALLOWED  
•   Polaroid photos are NOT ALLOWED
•   THE NAME OF CANDIDATE AND DATE OF PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN SHOULD BE    CLEARLY MENTIONED ON IT.

SIGNATURE

•    The dimension of signature image should be 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only.
•     The size of the signature image must be greater than 1 KB and less than 30 KB .
•     JPG/JPEG FORMAT

THUMB IMPRESSION

• The dimension of thumb impression image should be 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only.
• The size of the thumb impression image must be greater than 1 KB and less than 30 KB.
•  Left hand thumb impression is to be taken.

JEE MAIN: PHOTOGRAPH AND THUMB IMPRESSION

To clear the confusion regarding the photograph and which thumb impression to be used please read this updated part of JEE MAIN Brochure:

Before filling up the application form the candidate should have a scanned image of his/her photograph, signature and thumb impression (left hand thumb for boys and right hand thumb for girls). These scanned images are to be uploaded during the submission of application form. The photograph should be colour or b/w (but clear contrast) with name of the candidate and date of taking the photograph printed on it as shown below. It should be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. Candidates with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected.
