Finally normalization challeneged in High Court

Well what was expected has happened the issue has been now raised in AP High Court.
As per the information shared by Dr Sanghi on his blog:
I have just received the following email from Mr. Neeraj Mehrotra.

We have challenged the normalisation procedure being adopted in JEE (Mains) 2013 in AP High Court, Hyderabad vide Writ Petition No. 18252 of 2013. The writ petition came for admission before Hon’ble Justice Ramesh Ranganathan today on 27 Jun 2013.

The hon’ble Court has admitted the writ petition and has directed the respondents viz. Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, JEE Apex Board (JAB) Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi and the Executive Director,JEE (Main) New Delhi to file the counter affidavits within two weeks. The Hon’ble Court further directed that admissions to be made into NITs / CFTIs is subject to further orders in the writ petition and directed the respondents to intimate all admitted candidates that their admission is subject to further orders and final outcome of the writ petition pending before the High Court of AP. Sri Ponnam Ashok Goud, Asst Solicitor General, Hyderabad was present in the court and has taken the notices on behalf of the respondents.

Well Again I feel its student who will suffer due to such uncertainties and will benefit businesses of Private players.

JEE COUNSELLING HELPING GUIDE

Well you all must be busy churning out the best of the possible options for you.To help you I advise to read this article written previously by me.
I am particularly advising all lying after 4000 ranks to consider ISM seriously.Thw students of ISM have started a facebook group to clear your apprehensions. Do check the comments there or post your querry there. The group link is:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/ismd.counseliing/

IIT BOMBAY: Considered as the toppers first choice this year the UG students there also have come up with a site to explain all the available courses there. Check it here:
https://sites.google.com/site/iitbinfo/home
IIT BHU: Their students took this initiative last year http://www.itbhuglobal.org/archives/2012/05/iit_bhu_varanasi_welcomes_the.html
This year too students have developed this site to showcase the goddies about the institute.Check this at
http://iitbhulife.wordpress.com/
Another facebook forum looks like to be of BHU guys to help students
https://www.facebook.com/groups/211419502339551/?fref=ts
IIT Gandhinagar: Another very interesting initiative is by IIT Gandhinagar. They are conducting an open house, where anyone within a rank of 4000 can visit their campus and learn about it.
Apart from this to get answers to most of the commonly encountered   counselling querries read this article from Prof. Dheeraj Sanghi of IIT K which is very nicely written. Check it here

Councelling Puzzle: JEE ADVANCED or JEE MAIN or BITSAT? Which one to go for?

Hello friends
I first wrote this article about three years back but It needed some changes as per the chnaging pattern. So here is the updated article for you:

In few days all results of engineering entrance examinations will come out and after that
You all will get confused and tensed over which college to go , which branch to opt dilema.
So here's some help from my side to decide a better future for you.
There's always a tradeoff between the department and the college.
I will suggest you to prefer college over department,if the difference isn't very great (say Chemical in good one and Mechanical in other one). But prefer the department in case gap is quite large(say Computer Science in IIT hyderabad and Metallurgy in IIT Bombay). I know some might differ from this opinion.

The confusion b/w whether to go through IIT or NIT or IIIT or BITSAT

Well if you are getting a good Department in BITS Pilani (say score more than 350 in BITSAT and JEE rank more than 3500) go for the BITS.Similarly if you can get Computer Science or Electronics in top 5 NIT's go for the NIT's or IIIT Hyderabad.

WELL TO SUMMARIZE ALL:

If you are getting

JEE ADVANCEDrank 1-2500 : You have plenty of good options to go for. Try on getting the better IIT(it really feels surprising to write better IIT as all seven one(older) are the gems of our nation).
JEE rADVANCEDank 2500-5000: I will suggest look for a better department in BHU/Guwahati/Roorkee or the new IIT's. ISM is also a good option till 6000 odd AIR.
JEE ADVANCED rank above 4500 and JEE MAIN rank below 10000 or BITSAT score above 330 - Refer to my advice given above regarding this

JEE MAIN: Rank 1-5000 Go for IIIT hyderabad or top 5 NITS Comp Sc or ECE
RANK 5000-15000- NIT's, IIIT's Allahabad , and Gwalior or may be IIIT BANGALORE/ LNMIIT(Seperate form has to be filled for it. )

Rank 15k-25k. Hope for civil or metallurgy in any NIT. Also fill form of NIRMA Ahmedabad and TIET Patiala.

For rest of you there are choices like MITS laxmangarah(Girls only), KIIT bhubaneshwar, MGERI Chennai.

Also you can seek admission in some good colleges availble through SLEEE like RPET.
Anyone with BITSAT score above 300 can opt for M.Sc courses in BITS Pilani as they are good.

Cutoff?? Smell this article

Well with scores out everyone is anxious about expected AIR and Cutoff. To Give you an idea of this year I am posting this article of TOI

BITSAT: More students this year in 350+League

The BITS Pilani has made the statistics of BITSAT 2013 public on their official website. This year there has been a tremendous increase in number of students scoring 350+ or even 400+.
This is a clear reflection of JEE effect. the confusion created by new JEE pattern has led students to write BITSAT more seriously and that is why this statistics have  changed considerably from last year. But I feel its good now IITs will get more competition from BITS as surely BITS will get better quality of intake(Please don't read as BITS doesn't getting quality intake previously. I have highest regard for BITS and its a brand in itself that India is proud of.)
Some statistical information on BITSAT-2013

                                            BITSAT-2011          BITSAT-2012             BITSAT-2013

Celebrating 50000 Hits!!!

Well I never imagined this kind of response I'll be able to generate from this blog. I am really delighted on hitting this milestone of 50K page hits as this  is not an entertainment or general issues that this blog caters its very specific only to engineering aspirants. So the audience is very much specified and getting this with more than 1850 comments on posts fills me with joy. I started it as a genuine helping hand for students/parents and making fame or money was never my idea and I assure you it won't be in future also. That's the reason you see this as ad-free and nonsense-free also.

Once again I like to thank one and all who have been following this for so long. thanks for your trust and I will always do my best to not to let you down.

Thanks everyone!!!!.

JEE ADVANCED 2013 ANALYSIS AND RANK PREDICTOR

Well the paper -1 is over. From the initial reactions:
PHYSICS- a cakewalk as compared to other two sections.
CHEMISTRY- Tricky some questions were out of regular curriculum being taught to students.
MATHS- most difficult of the three.Toughest paper after 2008.

For paper-2
Physics- Tougher than paper 1 as multiple correct are always tough to handle.
Chemistry-  easier than paper 1 organic and inorganic dominated.
Maths- again a tough nut marginally better than paper-1 .

Detailed Analysis of Physics:
The Physics overall was the easiest to score in the paper. In paper 1 equal number of questions were asked from XI and XII syllabus. In paper 2 this was 60:40 in favour of XII syllabus.
The Paper 1 was quite easy. 5 out of 10 single option correct questions were easy while rest were just a bit moderate to tough. The vernier one was the pick of them. The multiple correct were also regular style questions, Integers except the nuclear decay one were mere basic questions.
The Paper 2 had 4 easy matching questions. The comprehensions:
Nuclear physics question was calculative but basic.
Work energy one was a regular question for IIT aspirants.
The transformer question was straight from description provided in NCERT.
The EMI one was the pick of the question.
The multiple correct questions were very well aptly designed. Even the major institutes are making mistakes in giving answers so what can we expect from a student.
Overall if some one scores more than 70 in physics it will be a good score.

With scores known to you all I would like to share the data of JEE 2012 to help you in guessing your rank yourself:
Total Marks-401
Rank  1- 385 Marks(96%)
Rank 122- 314 Marks(78.2%)
Rank 251- 298 Marks(74.3%)
Rank 610- 274 marks(68.33%)
Rank 1248-251 Marks(62.6%)
Rank 1969-234 marks(58.4%)
Rank 2870-224 Marks(55.9%)
Rank 4033- 206 marks (51.4%)

As per the reports I have got (can't confirm yet) the topper this year is 332 marks(92.2%).One of FIITJEE Indore student is claiming 329 marks. The topper of JEE MAIN from Ranchi is getting 283 marks. been validated the Indore boy got AIR-3 while ranchi topper of JEE MAIN lad got AIR 66
So my news have
You can guess now on your own.
Please post you comments on Helpline for JEE post as the comments here are over flooded.
