DISCLAIMER: I am replying to your queries as per best of my knowledge and facts I am aware of. I always try to suggest what I feel is best for you but I may be wrong as sometimes on selection of college and branches opinion do differ. But I don't have any vested interest in my advice's.
People now a days  generally don't digest someone working for good without interest. You can see what some say about Anna even so I am ready for any sort of criticism from your end and I do welcome it.

AIEEE 2012 Quick Takes

AIEEE 2012: Quick Takes

  • Same pattern, marking scheme and number of questions as in  2011.
  • Almost same weight age for Class XI and XII syllabus
  • One question in physics has a fundamental data mistake and hence must be bonus(beta minus decay ) .
  • Paper is concept based but involves preparation beyond boards and NCERT text books. Students focusing only on them will find it difficult.
  • Overall physics is slightly simpler than last year while maths is slightly difficult and chemistry almost the same.
  • Students undergone systematic coaching will have an upper hand. Many questions in maths have been directly lifted from previous years JEE questions.
  • Students getting 190+ will definitely be in top 15000 ranks
  • Well going through website of one prestigious (the only listed in stock exchanges) I read a funny comment             "PHYSICS paper was very easy in comparison to the last year and a cake walk for the students who prepared well for AIEEE 2012"  Good Joke!!!

AIEEE 2012: What To Do and What Not To Do

The Eleventh All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is going to be held on 29 April'2012(Offline Mode). To help you in how to gear up yourself in last ten days I have written below three important tips and tricks to succeed in AIEEE.

  • REVIEW NCERT TEXTBOOKS: You must thoroughly review the NCERT Text books especially Class XII ones.
  • EXTRA EFFORT FOR NON JEE TOPICS : In all three subjects there are portion of syllabus uncommon with JEE syllabus and questions do come from them. In Physics take care of Semiconductors and communication, Carnot engine, Magnetism and experiments section. In chemistry put emphasis in bio molecules, polymers, Surface chemistry. In maths do study Reasoning, Mathematical logic and statistics.
  • SOLVE PREVIOUS YEAR PAPERS AND TRY TO IDENTIFY THE FINEPRINTS: Now when you solve papers especially of 2007-11 you will see that there are always some questions in physics and mathematics which are really tough and sometimes out of normal league. But on an average in every subject you will definitely find 15-20 questions which are either direct facts or direct applications that an average student can solve. So trick to succeed is the right identification or selection of such questions.
Remember scoring marks >50% puts you in driver seat where you have chance of getting admission into NIT or IIIT.This is not that tough a task given you attempt the paper smartly and picks the right questions and solve them correctly. Though its not right to suggest how much to score in a particular subject but for most of you ideal scenario is to get 50-60% marks in physics,60-75%in chemistry and 40-50% in Mathematics.

Well that was from my side. I hope that this may help you in your AIEEE.

ALL THE BEST!!!

IIT JEE 2012 Solutions & Cut-off

IIT JEE 2012:Quick Takes

  •  More than 5.6 lakh aspirants appeared for the IIT Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) this year as compared to 4.6 lakh who took the exam last time.
  • The exam held at 1,067 centres across the country on Sunday for admission to nearly 9,618 undergraduate seats in 15 IITs, IT-BHU and ISM Dhanbad.
  • The results are scheduled to be declared on May 18.
  • The level of questions was far beyond than the NCERT Text book which definitely gives edge to students preparing through coaching centres.
  • Paper 1 and 2 both contained 20 questions each of Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
  • The maximum marks of Paper 1 -210 Marks and of Paper-2 is 198 Marks.
  • Paper 2 was much tougher than paper-1.
  • Students who are good in their theory concepts and prepared well for the exam will definitely excel in the competition.
  • None of the paper had matric match type questions
  • Paper was tougher than last year's paper.
  • From the initial reactions cutoff this year seems to be on lower side than 2011 possible under around 180 .
But after interacting with students past 24 hours after the paper I sense it may be anywhere between 190-200 Marks.
  • Students getting 320+ marks can hope for AIR<200
